hola al arrancar el pc en la consola y escribo startx y el entorno grafico no arranda me da error;pq puede ser?
como pueod arrancar el KDE?ya que el Gnome no lo instale.

Pues puede ser por varias cosas, lo más seguro por una mala configuración del XF86Cpnfig , pero casi mejor si nos pegas el error, o de otro modo nadie te podra ayudar.

Cuando le das startx, hace amago de arrancar y despues tira unas lineas de error en la misma consola, esas son las que debes poner aqui.

es XF86Config herje jeje escribir rapido conlleva a eso :-9

Me parece que durante la instalación no configuraste la parte gráfica ¿cierto?

Ejecuta desde consola el comando Xconfigurator (la X en mayúsculas) y configura ahí. Si eso no te funciona, postea tu archivo /etc/X11/XF86config y DINOS QUE TARJETA DE VIDEO TIENES. (Aún no se ha inscrito ningún adivino en este foro ).

hice como me dijeron,en root ejecuté Xconfiguration y na me sale pa que configure las x selecciono el monitor el unico modelo de forefront ya que no hay algun otro,la targeta de video q es una S3 savaage de 8Mb y na al acabar me dice que hay un problema con la configuracion pero no consigo hacer que tire y si intento ver la configuracion ejecutando...less /etc/X11/XF86Config me dice que no encuentra el archivo;que he de hacer?

Posteanos el archivo /etc/X11/XF86config y a ver que veamos que tienes mal.

hola,epplestun no se como postearlo ya que al intentar ver el archivo ya sea con less o con cat como puse arriba me dice que no encuentra archivo o directorio :$.

pos deberias buscar bien el fichero k esta ahi una vez k lo tengas haces un vi archivo lo copias y nos lo pegas aki

a mi me paso algo asi en debian y quitando el framebuffer cuando lo configuras me funciono , quiza tu caso sea algun mal dato de las frecuencias del monitor o algo por el estilo pero probar no cuesta nada
