Suspender un hilo por algun tiempo

Pregunta Suspender un hilo por algun tiempo
Hola a todos, quisiera hacer una pregunta, alguien sabe como suspender un hilo en java por x tiempo, lo que pasa es que he usado la funcion Thread.sleep() pero me suspende el hilo actual; por ejemplo tengo dos hilos (Thread t1,t2;) de los cuales puedo suspender desde un Jframe con la funcion suspend() y reanudarlo con la funcion resume(), pero al hacer algo como esto t1.sleep(); se me suspende el JFrame y me bloquea toda la interfaz grafica; he leido y eventualmente la funcion sleep() duerme el programa desde donde fue llamado. Alguna Solucion? Gracias por su respuesta.

Buenas,

Si lees el javadoc de sleep lo dice claramente:
Causes the currently executing thread to sleep

Va a dormir el hilo que llama a sleep, ya sea una llamada estatica o a traves de una instancia.

Para suspender y reanudar un thread desde otro hilo hay que utilizar wait y notify.

Los metodos suspend() y resume() que comentas estan deprecados ya que causan deadlocks al no liberar el monitor.

Hola de nuevo, tengo el siguiente codigo que se supone que al presionar el boton de la clase Menu, me suspende el hilo donde se ejecuta el objeto de la clase Graficos, pero se me congela toda la interfaz grafica del Menu tambien; he usado wait y notify pero algo estoy haciendo mal y no se que es

Buenas,

Eso es porque al hacer el wait estas congelando el EDT (Event Dispatcher Thread) que es el hilo encargado de estar a la escucha de los eventos UI.

Antes de nada deberias conocer bien la estructura de las aplicaciones Swing:

Por otro lado, si te fijas en ningun momento estas lanzando un tread (metodo start()).
