SQL Data Integration Specialist - SQL Server Integration Services –SSIS



The Project Scope



The duration of our off shore component of the data integration project is 2 years. The project requires 4 data integration specialists with each specialist devoting 40 hours each week for a combined total of 160 hours per week.



The Methodology



The Database specialist must be familiar with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005’s Business Intelligence Tool and have a strong knowledge and understanding of the process of creating SSIS packages for importing and standardizing dissimilar data from third parties into our SQL Server 2005 database.



The data specialist will configure the packages so that each package contains pre-configured clean-up processes to standardize the data. The package will reference a table in the database to determine the file location and any related parameters. These packages are run on pre-defined schedules based on data refresh frequency.



2 Types of Data Imports



Import Type 1

Tax Data Obtained From Various Local Governments
The data is grouped by local government and can come in a single file or many files, depending on the manner supplied by the local government.

Delivery Method: FTP, HTTP, CD, Manual Transfer

File Types: CSV, MDB, Excel, Tape Output, Fixed Width, DBF, etc.

Destination----SQL Server 2005 database 25 Imported Fields, 10 Lookup/Calculated Fields



Import Type 2 Home Listed For Sale Obtained From Various Commercial Vendors
The data can span multiple geographic areas and contains lists of all real estate for sale in a given location. The data can come in one or multiple files and is often broken out by real estate type. Additional data is provided in supplemental files or is included in the primary file and needs to be broken out to the related databases.

Delivery Method: FTP, HTTP

File Types: CSV, MDB, Fixed Width, etc.
