problema con visual web developer y coneccion a sql server

bueno yo tenia instalado el xp hasta hace poco que upgradee y me cambie al windows 7 pero me he visto con una cantidad de molestias, yo tengo la version x86 y muchas de las cosas que usaba antes ahora son incompatible. Basicamente son cosas si mayor importancia como juegos, programas de utilidad etc, pero ahora q me encuentro con esto si estoy asustado. No puedo conecta visual web developer con sql server lo he intentado todo y no he podido solucionar.

Ojala que aqui me puedan ayudar, aunq he tenido inconvenientes windows 7 me parece mucho mejor que el xp, y no quisiera tener q volver al xp.

hey gracias por responder estoy usando vwd 2008 sql server 2005. cuando le doy al test en provider me sale esto:

Could not establish a connection to the database.
If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the Web Site Administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set the provider.

Y en la parte de security estoy:

There is a problem with your selected data store. This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission. It can also be caused by the role manager feature not being enabled. Click the button below to be redirected to a page where you can choose a new data store.

The following message may help in diagnosing the problem: Unable to connect to SQL Server database.

Es decir las tablas y demas cosas predeterminadas no estan.

Pero tal y como dice el mensaje debes hacer uso del aspnet_regsql para crear esas tablas que son para autenticación, perfiles, creación, etc de usuarios si no me equivoco.
Puedes hacerlo por la consola o con la sgte ruta:

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 

dentro de esta ruta encontrarás el ejecutable aspnet_regsql.exe lo abres y te saldrá un asistente bastante fácil de completar.

si la cuestion es que sql server te crea carpetas predeterminadas, eso no aparece y no tengo idea de lo q pasa :(, ya intete eso me aparece este error

supongo q es por el sistema no inicia sql server. me meti en services.msc y parece estar todo normal, pero no se cual es el servicio que lo activa.

pero cuando ingresas por el Management Studio todo funciona bien???

si el programa funciona perfect, solo es eso que el sql server no establce coneccion, ni me permite crear las tablas predeterminadas que se crean automaticamente.
