hola, estoy tratando de instalarla en ubuntu... sin resultados. me estoy guiando con

me descargue postgresql-7.4.8.tar.gz_FILES
y estoy como root, pero dentro de una carpeta en Desktop.
a ver si alguien ,me da una mano.
