Bueno, pues te va a parecer increíble (como a mi), pero a mi me pasó eso hace tiempo y se solucionó quitando la típica cabecera del html
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
y cambiándola por esta otra:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html>
<head>
Lo cierto es que no sé a qué se debe (igual alguien puede arrojar un poco de luz) pero me funcionó de maravilla como quería.
A ver si tienes suerte y era eso.
