problemas al instalar programas en ubuntu

Hola amigos, tengo un pequeño problema, trato de instalar programas en ubuntu V 6.06 LTS (q no tengo idea q significa jiji), por ejemplo, baje el xmms para escuchar musica y salia en una pagina q colocara ./confingure pero al hacerlo me sale esto:

la verdad soy nuevo en esto de linux y no se mucho, quiza es alguna cosa muy facil, pero no la se, jiji.

baje tambien un xmms.rpm y tampoco funciona.
trate de instalar el wine y tambien el mismo mensaje, y no entiendo q quiere decir.
