Solo ten cuidado:
Cita: set_time_limit() has no effect when PHP is running in safe mode. There is no workaround other than turning off safe mode or changing the time limit in the php.ini.
Si tu hosting corre en safe mode, no podrás usar esta función. Revisalo con tu hosting antes de depender de ella para alguna función crítica de tu web.
