script que no funciona en firefox

hace poco encontre en intener un script hecho con javascritp con el que te aparecia un reloj al lado del raton y que cuando lo movias se deshacia y cuando lo dejabas quito volvia a recomponerse y me gusto bastante el efecto, lo probe con html-kit que es el programa que uso para crear paginas webs,no me dio ningun problema y lo puse en mi pagina web,cuando lo puse lo pobe con firefox (que es mi navegador predeterminado) y no veia el efecto por ningun lado, me fui a a probar con el portatil y tampoco me funcionaba,me dio por probar con el IE y funciono perfectamente.

me estuve informando y googleando bastante descubri que es por que aparece document.all,encontre una solucion que es poniendo document.getElementById, pero probandolo no me funciona,he buscado una solucion por todos lados pero no la encuentro,y no se me ocurre que puedo hacer para solucionarlo ya que empece hace poco con el Javascript y todavia no lo domino muy bien, me hago una idea de como funciona porque algunos comandos son iguales o parecidos al MS-DOS y batch pero de resto no tengo ni idea

otra cosa
mirando por ahi me fije que alguien creo un script y lo guardo con la extension .js

podrian explicarme como va eso?

Hola

Primero vamos con lo que considero que realmente importante. Para javascript externo es como cuando has creado la pagina X con la extensión html. Es decir introduces el guión en algún editor de texto y guardas el documento con la extensión .js. Después para tener acceso a el desde cualquier página solo has de poner esta linea en el head del documento con extensión html, por ejemplo

<script type="text/javascript" src="nombre_documento.js"></script>

En cuanto al guión que muestras, me da pereza revisar tantas lineas

eso de poner el script a parte tambien funciona con x.php?

Sí, también con PHP, ASP,...

Y sí, el problema está ahí, pero no serviría de nada añadir una nueva var tipo var ns6 = (document.getElementById) ya que habría que rehacer mucho código, más que rehacer, hacer

me he fijado que tambien acepta netscape y he visto que hay codigo bastante largo para ese no podria reemplazar document.layers por document.getElementById o adaptarlo de alguna manera ?
