problema con resolucion pantalla ubuntu

Estas en el tema de problema con resolucion pantalla ubuntu en el foro de Unix / Linux en Foros del Web. He instalado ubuntu con windows xp se ha instalado correctamente pero no me deja cambiar la resolucion que aparece a 640x400 He reconfigurado el xorg.conf ...

problema con resolucion pantalla ubuntu

He instalado ubuntu con windows xp se ha instalado correctamente
pero no me deja cambiar la resolucion que aparece a 640x400
He reconfigurado el xorg.conf pero no funciona. Sigo sin poder cambiar
la resolucion.

¿Alguna idea?

Gracias por responder Koveart.

Pero ya he probado con dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
y no da resultado, cambio las resoluciones pero al reiniciar solo
me permite 640x480.

¿EStas seguro que has seleccionado el hardware correcto con dpkg-reconfigure? intenta reconcoer el hardware con algun live-cd que tengas a mano.

Publica en un tema nuevo tu problema, dinos EXACTAMENTE que has probado, y dinos EXACTAMENTE que mensajes de error has obtenido.

Bueno pues a mi parecer casi ningun foro a ayudado con este problema pues a mucha gente le sucede incluyendome todos te dan la solucion de

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

O el modificar el archivo xorg.conf a pie pero es cierto esto suele arreglarlo pero no con todo los tipos de monitor ademas que todos brindan ayuda cuando es una targeta de video pero no cuando es integrada, para un servidor que compre me da este problema el monitor es un Benq V551 y targeta integrada, ya utilice la opciones mencionadas antes pero no han dado resultado la resolucion aun me queda en 640x480 aunque en el xorg.conf dice 1024x768

Tuve una pequeña esperanza con este documento que encontre

pero el problema es que no encontre el menu grafico que menciona ahi entonces si alguien me puede dar una buena respuesta que me diga esto realmente me funciono que me lo diga gracias

A otro usuario le han pedido información de LSPCI, XORG.CONF y DMESG. Prueba a aportar tú esa información. Y cuéntanos un poco más de tu hardware. No basta con saber que la tarjeta es integrada, necesitamos saber el modelo exacto.

Pues bueno te puedo decir que es un HP Netserver LH3

La tarjeta Intel i960

Es un Pentium III

No se que mas necesitas para ayudarme con esto ?

Relee mi mensaje, porque te he pedido información que aún no me has dado. Y si pones el XORG.CONF, ponlo entero. Se me olvidaba: di también qué modelo EXACTO es el monitor.

Si, por ejemplo en el pedazo de xorg.conf que posteas no aparece el modelo de tarjeta.... Una de los montones de posibles causas del error es que no tengas asignado el driver que corresponde a tu tarjeta.

Pero no somos magos, brujos o adivinos.... Sin la información correcta y completa no es posible resolver algo.

con respecto a este póst me uno a la causa no al copy and paste
mucha gente dedica tiempo en ayudar a los demas sin embargo la idea es dar soluciones no divagar.
Como usuario de internet que soy desde hace cuatro años estoy cansado del contenido chatarra.
Y creo que mucha gente piensa igual que yo.
Una buena comunidad tendria que apoyarse en una buena base.

Visita este link http://www.ubuntu-es.org/?q=node/120245, es para 9.10, no he probado lo que dicen aca en versiones anteriores, pero resolvi el problema en 5 m sin tener muchos conocimientos de linux... MUY BUENO, ESA ES LA VERDAD!!!!
