 Orientacion sobre procesador Xeon

Queria consultarles sobre que procesador me conviene utilizar, voy a trabajar con w2000/2003 server y sql server 2000/2005, VB/CryReports.
Estuve investigando en la web de intel, y creo que con alguno de los siguientes procesadores andaria muy bien:
-Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processor 7040 3.0 Ghz
-Intel Xeon Processor 3.6Ghz
El tema es que en las especificaciones se menciona que se requiere chipset compatible (obvio), pero exige compatibiliad con SO, drivers,etc
64-bit Intel® Xeon® processors with Intel® EM64T requires a computer system with a processor, chipset, BIOS, OS, device drivers and applications enabled for Intel EM64T. Processor will not operate (including 32-bit operation) without an Intel EM64T-enabled BIOS. Performance will vary depending on your hardware and software configurations. O sea, como estoy seguro que todos los componentes de mi server cumplen estas especificaciones? conviene directamente elegir un server de marca?
